I beat Blueberry Garden

So a while ago steam had this indie game pack for like 30bucks and you got like 10 games. One of them happened to be Blueberry garden. The trailer videos for blueberry garden always made me wonder what on earth was blueberry garden all about. When the demo came out I downloaded it… but sadly it still sits in a folder somewhere waiting to be installed. A few days ago I started playing it after hearing a number of comments from people who have played it and the over all feed back was generally the same, confusing.

I personally didn’t find the game too bad… there are a few bugs and annoying stuff to it but it’s unique.

From what I can tell the game has two parts. First part is to turn off a tap to stop it flooding your world and the second is to get to the cheese-like moon.

The game is pretty neat with it’s number of game play elements, the major part of the game is to explore, you explore by flying/gliding, you get further the higher your tower is. By exploring you also find new fruits, which when eaten have different effects. You can also take fruits home and grow them into trees. There are also animals you can find and take home. The common ones are some birds and these little mini-cube things I have no idea what they are. The neatest thing I’ve found were some moose like things that were blue. They were so cool they looked like they had sunnies on.

The controls for the games are to me some what strange… to move side to side you use your right and left arrow keys, jump and flying/gliding is with space bar, enter to eat food, down arrow to pick up or put down stuff and the up arrow is to use doors. The thing I found most annoying was that to return home you had to hold down the home key… which is a key I never use and have no real idea where it’s placement on my keyboard is so every time I wanted to go home I had to look down and find the damn home key.

Anyways… to build up your tower so you can get further in the game you find these huge-ass objects that when you near close to will glow and blur and you find yourself back home with the object you just found stacked on top of any other object you’ve already found.

Few things I found about the game, it’s kind-a glitchy. Collision is a bit of a pain at the times, I would get stuck in the level and had to teleport port myself back home. Birds would also sometimes come and attack me while I was gliding. That moose thing, it would try and run me over at times and when your garden gets too big you have to start eating fruit just to get around.

Over all, I didn’t think the game was all that bad, I spent like half an hour to turn off the tap my first go, and once you know what’s happening things get pretty easy. Although some of the fruit, I still haven’t worked out what they do when I eat.
